Atty. Ma. Janice Reyes Tejano is the Director for Intellectual Property and ITSO Manager of the Center for Intellectual Property Management, an IPOPHL-accredited ITSO, of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. She is also a full time faculty of the Human Resource Management Program of the School of Management and Information Technology of CSB, where she has been teaching business law and labor law subjects for the last 10 years.

Atty. Tejano is the Executive Director of Tejano Law & Consulting, where she caters to corporate and individual clients, MSMEs, and startups. Her practice areas include business registration and corporate housekeeping, regulatory compliance, energy, tax, policy research and development, intellectual property, and data protection. Aside from being an IP lawyer, Atty. Janice is also certified Data Protection Officer.

Atty. Tejano is a graduate of De La Salle-University Manila, where she majored in Legal Management. She completed her law degree from San Beda University in Mendiola, Manila.

Atty. Janice has been invited as a speaker and resource person in various local and international conferences on intellectual property. She is currently based in Davao.

Fan Art: Inspiration or Copyright Infringement?

Fan art are works created by fans of a work of fiction and are often derived from characters in the latter. There is a thin line that separates when a fan art is merely “inspired” by the original work or when it is copyright infringement. This is a growing trend specially from younger community of artists.

The task of enlightening us on the ramifications of fanart has been given to this duo of international experts who have lectured on and have co-authored numerous publications on this topic.
